Dining, Restaurants

Kuantan offers some of the best local cuisines found along the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, encompassing mostly Chinese and Malay food. As fishing villages are a common feature along this region, fresh seafood comes in great abundance. Fish of different species and grades, squid, clams, crab and even exotic varities like abalone are common in many restaurants along the coastal stretch from town all the way up north to Kemaman. Some of the specialties unique to Pahang are also available here, including 'Patin Tempoyak', a fermented durian, coconut milk and curry paste eaten with a local catfish and 'Mee Calong', a noodle soup with fish balls, egg and tofu.
