Kemaman is a coastal district about 50km north of Kuantan, located just over the Terengganu border 5km after Cherating. Famed for its neighbouring beaches and local food (including Keropok, Satar and Lemang) Kemaman also has public tourist attractions such as a mini zoo and firefly watching at night along Sungai Yak Yah. Its social and economic center is Chukai, is a large town located next to Kemaman's river mouth that produces a popular blend of aromatic coffee at Hai Peng Kopitiam and stuffed crab dish from Tong Juan Seafood Restaurant. Finally, some of the popular beaches in the vicinity include Teluk Kalong, Pantai Kemasik, Pantai Kijal and Pantai Mak Nik.
