Sungai Lembing

Rainbow, Pahang, Malaysia

Sungai Lembing is a town about 45km west from Kuantan, hidden in a hilly rainforest region towards the mainland and accessible by road. Once a prosperous tin mining center during the colonial era, Sungai Lembing decayed over time as prices dropped, until eventually all mining activities ceased in 1986. Today, economic development has seen a resurgence in the form of tourism - the town has become a holiday getaway for its nature and cultural attractions, including the famous 'Rainbow' waterfall, sunrise viewpoint at Bukit Panorama, underground tin mines, museum and cottage products. Budget and boutique hotels have sprouted over the landscape to meet this demand.
